Family Wall

Just wanted ya all to see one of my most priced possessions...of late.

 

Took the door off of our room and put it on the wall in the Family Room.

 

Alan and Dean attached it to studs and it isn't going anywhere.

 

We can even lift it up to put pictures behind it.

 

Just noticed that the curtain and sun shining in behind me is distorting the picture. ugh!

This is the whole wall.

Vinyl lettering

In one of our guest rooms we put this on the wall as you walk into the room.

Then in our master above the bed is this.

In case it is too hard to read. This is what it says:

Winnie the Pooh

Not at all what I went to the store to purchase.

But I LOVE IT.

Maybe I need to watch Winnie the Pooh now.

mirror re-do

I just scrolled thru my picture and I am so disappointed that I didn't take a before shot of this mirror redo.

Actually it would have required 2 before pictures.

Because I bought this mirror probably 30 years ago at the Chino Auction in Calif. and have always liked it a lot. It is a heavy duty furniture quality mirror.

So it started off looking like a finished piece of furniture. You know the brown type of furniture finish.

So Mallory told me it was dated and needed an update.

Out comes the can of Black paint and it's done.

Make over complete.

But it never really seemed complete to me.

One day when we were at the store I grabbed a can of Country White paint and made the change.

I covered it in the Country White, then gave it a little roughing up (sanded some of the edges).

TAAADAA

I'm liking it A LOT now!

I wish it was Summer all year long.

Not the hot weather kind of Summer.

Just the stay home kind of Summer.

I think thay call that retirement!!

Red Pony

I have been doing a few home improvement project this summer. First on the list was the doors. So I still had a red can of paint from painting the front and back door. SO what to paint next?

I spotted this rocking horse that just had a light stain on it.

Perfect for my next project.

                                                             It gets Titan's approval.

At first I thought to myself. "Why do parents always have to squeeze their kids faces, poor guy."

Then I remembered, that Mallory was showing me Titan's first tooth. ha ha

Such a face!

A splash of color

This Summer has been an obsession of Pinterest. Funny thing is that Heather and Tiffany have been just as obsessed and now consummed with projects.

Here are a few of the changes I have done so far.

This is the back door.

 It needed something SO bad that any color would have been acceptable.

 I saw a picture on Pinterest of someones home who had painted her interior doors Black. With the white trim I really liked it. So I bought a can and gave it a try.

Not the best picture. It would have looked better if you could see the whole room together.

Closet door in the entry.

This is the inside of the front door, which is right next to the closet entry door.

It made a Big difference I think.



 I guess this picture is the result of being too short to take a decent picture.

This is the Front door.

It was/is an old door that had seen better days. It is amazing what a couple coats of paint can do.

I decided I needed a splash of color in our hall bath. So I scanned the paint isle, and came home with a spray can of Orange.

Gave the mirror a make over.

Still trying to decide what else to do with it. A bit carnival looking. Maybe rubbing some brown over it will help? Or maybe it will just stay, because I have a dozen other project waiting to be started.

Maybe next time I will be smarter and take a before picture so you can see the actual difference it made.



Summer projects

I Love Summer projects.

Here is my first one. I finally went and purchased a can of spray paint. After checking out so many crafts and ideas on Pinterest, I was determined to Do something.

Alan had made me this jewelery thing with some scrap wood we had.

There is a piece of Styrofoam in the middle to stick earrings on, and some nails along the bottom to hang necklaces.

 Nothing fancy, but it had been bare wood and white Styrofoam ever since he made it.

Then the other day I had an idea to put a shelf on top for perfume.

Thanks to another piece of scrap wood in the yard and a handy husband, I now have a new piece to enjoy.

So spray can #1 and this is what I now have hanging in my bathroom.

Then one day Heather came over with a dress like this that she had bought at DI for $3.00.

SO of course I ran out and bought me this one.

They had a bunch of BRAND NEW Temple dresses that apparently had the zipper put in wrong so they couldn't sell them for normal price.

Well who needs the zipper when you cut it up and add elastic to it for a skirt.
