Baby Food

How much FUN can one person have in a Summer? I am having way too much! Here is my latest creation. BABY FOOD. I had a bunch of Squash and Zucchini from the garden, so I thought...Why Not! I steamed and pureed the vegetables and then froze the puree in the ice cube trays. After it froze, I put them in little snack size baggies for future use.

So far I have made squash, zucchini, green beans, spinach, banana/apple and peach/blueberry. Mostly all FREE. Stuff from the garden, and the fruits from some I had sitting around here. The blueberries and peaches were frozen. Everything else was fresh. I know what was put into it and what was NOT put into the food. No sugar, salt or preservatives.
Heather said she pays around 44 cents per jar of baby food. And there are times William doesn't finish it in the allotted time and it goes to waste. She also told me about a friend of hers that had a baby about a month after her that is planning on feeding her son Organic baby food. At about $1.25 a jar. OUCH. I was having so much fun making the food and pouring it into the ice cube trays, that I started to go through my pantry to see what else I could make. As I read the back of the cans for the ingredients I was shocked. Applesauce has sugar and high fructose corn syrup added to it. The canned apricots and peaches had sugar and corn syrup in it. Dang, guess I wont be using that for the babies. But we eat it hmm. Fun Times. Can't wait for more summer fruits from our trees. I think the babies will like it.

You are awesome. I tried to do it with Katelynn but it was short lived. I just fed her what I ate but in a baby food grinder. You make it sound so delicious. I might have to try it. miss you all
