Bumper Crop!

I came home from work the other day to find Alan in the garden getting it cleaned up for planting again. To my surprise I also saw Brydee sitting amongst a pile of carrots. She was carefully snipping off the tops and putting them into a bowl for me. Look at what she ended up getting done. What a good girl she is (4 years old too).

So what do you do with a surprise harvest that you didn't know was waiting in the ground for you? EAT THEM. So we had a warm carrot dish for dinner, a cold carrot salad, lasagna with shredded carrots mixed in with the meat (along with some shredded squash I had frozen from the summer harvest), a chicken and broccoli dish with ....you guessed it, shredded carrots in it. And still enough left over to eat by them self or dipped in ranch:)

You got a love the garden! Can't wait for this years crops!

So what do you do with the case of corn flakes we bought at Harmon's case lot sale?

EAT IT! Last night I made these...

Corn Flakes with corn syrup, sugar and peanut butter. Topped with chocolate chips and butter scotch chips. Hey with a glass of milk it could pass for breakfast without the bowl and spoon. Nice for clean up. Thank goodness for neighbors to give it away to, my teeth are hurting just looking at the picture.

Note to self: continue to stock up the pantry, and plant a garden. We like to eat.

Not a carrot lover, as you probably guessed. But the dessert looks YUMMY! : )
