Normally on a long flight you are given the choice to watch a movie on a mini screen in front of you or recline and enjoy a long earned nap. The key word being Normally.
When you fly stand by, nothing is normal. Which just means you create your own entertainment.
Like running your own 5K through the airport to catch your next connection, even when you have 30 min. before they load the plane. (thanks Jason and Andrea for that brilliant idea).
Or learning how to play 'Sudoku" my new favorite pass time.
Or find a book that will engage you the several hours ahead.
When we were in Nauvoo, Alan and Jason visited with a woman and some of her children. She was there on the sidewalk outside of a book store selling her book. He came back to the restaurant we were in with the book in hand. At the airport, and on the plane ride home, that book never left my hand. I finished all 335 pages by the time we arrived home.
The book is called "the gathering" by Annie Laurie & Brian Richardson.
from the back of the jacket...The gathering is the account of an incredibly courageous woman. The gathering is the story of a mother, with support of her husband, who searched for her missing children in the jungles of the Marshal Islands, the poverty-chocked country of Vietnam, and the corrupt country of Haiti. The gathering is a story of a family that fought and struggled to find their children in the U.S. through private adoptions and state foster-care systems. The gathering is an incredible story of faith, hope, and miracles.
After reading her journey and life's experience I have come to ask myself these questions...
Do I follow the promptings I receive at all cost?
Am I living in a way that I will recognise promptings?
What motivates me?
What legacy will I leave to my children?
What greatness have I preformed in life?
What can I do to make a difference?
These questions and so many more have filled my mind after reading Annie Laurie and Brian Richardson's story. May we all have the courage to "listen" and "follow" our life's path with courage, hope and faith, as we watch miracles unfold.

Great story! Same questions I've been asking myself for months. It's a learning process to be able to interpret those promptings sometimes, but when we do and we get it right we are blessed for it!! Great post!
Wow! Sounds like a great book.
Always looking for a good book to read. Glad you made your flight. Looks like you had fun.
